When we look to assessment, we normally focus on the immediate concerns presented by our clients; we take our clients into the treatment room, talk briefly, and out comes Magee’s with orthopedic tests, gait assessments, full body assessments and specific assessments of what their major concern is. Now that is the way we are taught and the way it’s done, however does it have to be?
Our clients want their 60 minute massage, do we do what they want and skip assessments or do we find a way to do both?
What if there was a different way of looking at the body and still using orthopedic testing to confirm or disprove what you were thinking of the minute you talked to your client? We generally use our base of knowledge to come to a conclusion on what’s going on in the body, and the longer we practice the bigger our base of knowledge gets…or we would hope. Come, expand on your experiences.
