Course Description

The objective of this course is to provide RMTs with knowledge about the pathology of cancer, options for medical treatment, and massage indications and contraindications so that they can feel more confident when someone checks off the “cancer” box on their intake form.

The content is based on current research and information has been gathered from credible sources. We will discuss some interesting questions such as, “Why does everything in California cause cancer?”, “Can massage spread cancer?”, and “What is Lynch Syndrome?”.

The highlight of the course is reviewing indications for massage so that you know how you can help and reviewing the contraindications so that you know how to avoid injuring someone.

The course is presented through videos, graphics, interactive quizzes, and reader engagement.You will also be provided with a useful guide to reference in your clinic so you can always be prepared.

Learning Outcomes

Subsequent to completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Become more confident in treating patients with cancer and discussing their medical situation with them and their healthcare team
• Gain knowledge in massage contraindications and modifications for people living with cancer.
• Realize the valuable contribution you can offer as an RMT in the life of someone with a cancer diagnosis.
